The Story of Ruth

Deny yourself and take up the cross and follow it.
The Lord repay your work, and a full reward be given to you by the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge. ( Ruth 2:11&12)
The story of Ruth is a great example of taking up the cross. Ruth was in despair not knowing whats kept in store for her. Naomi might die after a few years, but Ruth would have to bear her own cross. She was at Boaz's field was divinely arranged, though she never imagined. She had no expectations, no plans, no dreams. She only thought to be obedient and fulfilling her duty towards her mother-in-law. But Boaz saw that and he knew that the Lord would reward her because she left everything.
Ruth and Naomi had nothing so she had to go and glean the leftovers from the harvesting.
During those days one should leave the ends of the field for the poor and should not go after what has fallen behind, they should be left for the poor to glean. Lev 19 :10
Ruth was humble to take up that position. There was no need to waste her time and life like this? Naomi had no problem with her leaving. She had denied herself and taken up the cross.
Ruth let go off her old family ties and every attachment that was greater than the cross and the pursuit of Naomi's God. She found a family when she married Naomi's son.
Ruth let go off her old ties. She was a moabitess. However she didnt allow Moab to come along with her. She let go off her own personal dreams and vision of her own.
Psalm 126:5 Those who sow in tears will reap with shouts of joy.
